Gloria Allred: Tiger Woods Apology ‘A Staged Stunt’

I agree Tiger’s speech today was a “staged public relations stunt.” but really, why does this bimbo think we should care that she could not control falling in love with Woods? I don’t care, you’re 15 minutes of fame is over, go back to being a nobody like the rest of us. Next thing you know, she’ll be saying she loved John Edwards too.

Some McCain-Palin supporters disrespectful until the end

In the final weeks and days of the Presidential election, McCain-Palin and some of their supporters showed a keen talent for lies, deception, ignorance, bigotry, racism, and general disrespectfulness toward Barak Obama.  We all remember the “kill him” comment yelled during a Palin speech and the “terrorist” shout out at another campaign rally which went unchallenged and completely ignored.  Then we had the ignorant blond lady with the messy hairdo who was handed the microphone at a McCain rally and proceeded to spread the lie that Obama was a Muslim (which McCain half-heartedly disputed and insinuated Obama was a “good man” and not a Muslim).  As if being a Muslim was a bad thing.  I’m glad Colin Powell called McCain out on that about a week ago.  That did not stop Tuesday night when McCain made his concession speech after it was clear he had lost his bid to continue 4 more years of Republican failed policies.

After McCain stated he called Barak Obama to congratulate him, the crowd booed loudly.  I will give McCain partial credit for his half-hearted attempt to quiet the disrespectful boos but just like the insightful shout-outs during the speeches and the dumb blond “Muslim” comment, he did not call out his supporters for their actions or simply say they were wrong for behaving that way.  That seemingly insignificant lack of action demonstrates why the McCain-Palin campaign was a failure.

Contrast the McCain-Palin supporter’s disrespectfulness with Obama’s supporters cheering louding as Obama stated he received a gracious call from Senator McCain who fought long and hard in the campaign.  He congratulated McCain-Palin for all they have achieved.  He went on to call McCain a brave and selfless leader and commended him for his service to the country.

McCain-Palin and Republican supporters in general could learn a few things by listening to any one of Obama’s speeches.  They might learn that liberal is not a bad word and the left won because the right is wrong.

Here are the speeches if you didn’t hear/see them last night.  Feel free to leave your comments.

Palin’s eBay luxury jet insinuation half-truth

We all heard the Palin’s attempt to beef up her “executive experience” credentials the other night when she said “That luxury jet was over the top, I put it on eBay.”  Well it turns out that wasn’t a total lie, but it does show the lengths the Republican Party will go to deceive and manipulate facts to make Palin sound like she is more important than she really is.  It is true the plane was put on eBay, but it didn’t sell, so it was sold at an ordinary brick-and-mortar brokerage.  So I guess my question is, why insinuate you sold it on eBay?  So you listed something on eBay, good for you, so what.  Exactly how does that make you qualified to be Vice President?  News flash…it doesn’t.  If you’re going to take the time to tell a national audience you’re using eBay, at least give them the full story and stop trying to deceive the American people.

John McCain on the other hand, chose to go above and beyond deception, and instead just outright lie.  Here’s what Senator McCain said: “You know what I enjoyed the most?  She took the luxury jet that was purchased by her predecessor and sold it on eBay — and made a profit.”  Does the Republican party really believe they can continue to deceive and lie and get elected?  Apparently so and it’s simply shameful

Here’s the full article as reported on CNN.com.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (CNN) — Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin bolstered her fiscal-conservative credentials early in her term by putting her predecessor’s state jet up for auction online.

“That luxury jet was over the top,” she told Republican National Convention delegates when she accepted the party’s vice presidential nomination Wednesday night. “I put it on eBay.”

Since Palin was chosen as Arizona Sen. John McCain’s running mate last week, the story has become a cornerstone of the Republican effort to paint Palin as a reformer who took on her own party establishment.

“How many saw her speech a couple of nights ago? Wasn’t it fabulous?” McCain said Friday during a campaign stop in Cedarburg, Wisconsin. “You know what I enjoyed the most? She took the luxury jet that was purchased by her predecessor and sold it on eBay — and made a profit.”

But it turns out the twin-engine Westwind II was a tough sell on the Web — and the state eventually pulled it offline and sold it through an ordinary brick-and-mortar brokerage, for a loss, a spokeswoman said Friday.

“Governor Palin has been correct in saying that she put the plane on eBay,” McCain campaign spokeswoman Maria Comella told CNN. “They did end up selling it for $2.1 million. but not on eBay.”

Palin’s predecessor, Frank Murkowski, bought the jet for $2.7 million in 2005. The following year, Palin unseated Murkowski in the state’s Republican primary and became governor: Upon taking office, she wanted to unload what former aide Meg Stapleton called “a symbol of corruption.”

Stapleton told CNN that Murkowski paid too much for the jet, and that it was costing taxpayers money just sitting in the hangar.

“Eventually you had to concede and say, ‘How often are we going to pay these bills and waste more state dollars?’ ” she said.

When putting it on eBay failed, aircraft broker Rob Heckmann was called in to sell the jet. Businessman Larry Reynolds bought the five-passenger jet for sold for $2.1 million. And Reynolds is now seeking another $50,000 from the state for unexpected maintenance issues with the aircraft.

Bobblehead beauty queen Palin’s unmarried daughter is knocked up

The family values crowd was outraged as news spread today that Palin, the bobblehead beauty-queen, has a underage and unmarried daughter (Bristol) who was knocked up 5 months ago.  The family said she would have the baby, despite not currently being married to the father (which is actually a sin according to Christian belief).  The family did said Bristol would marry the father, even though the father never actually proposed to Bristol.  The Alaskan Times is reporting the father is a 18 year-old man Bristol met while working on her Mother’s campaign for governor.  This poor judgment by Palin’s daughter is just another example of how Palin, the bobblehead beauty-queen candidate, is not qualified for Vice-President of the United States of America.  Palin is well known in Alaska for not supporting birth control or sex education for teenagers.  Hmm, maybe if Palin had used better judgment, or the Alaska school system had taught some sex education to the unwed Bristol, maybe she wouldn’t be facing the prospect of raising a child.  It’s ironic that Bristol is not even old enough to vote for her Mom for V.P.  Palin didn’t even care enough about here daughter to give her some BC pills or a pack of condoms but the American people are expected to vote for this lady to govern the free world when McCain kicks the bucket.  I think not.  Same on you Sara Palin and John McCain.

Post Experiment Update

What bothers me most about this scandal is that the Christian right would be all over Obama and his wife if one of his kids (assuming they were the same age) was pregnant out of wedlock.  This post was written as an experiment.  I wrote what the Christian-Right would say if Obama’s black teenage daughter got pregnant out of wedlock.  Tom Delay and the Focus on the Family idiot would rant up and down about how unChristian is was and how irresponsible Obama was as a parent and how he was therefore not ready to be President…based on the simple fact that his daughter got pregnant.  But in this instance, it’s ok that Palin’s irresponsible daughter had unprotected sex and brings a child into this world when she’s not even old enough to vote.  Mama Palin is responsible due to the way she raised the kid.  Not teaching her about birth control and using religion as an excuse to be irresponsible.  This post was intended to show the double standard from the Christain-Right perspective and a good portion of the comments have shown my theory to be exactly correct.  It’s unAmerican and UnChristian when it suits them but forget about turning the tables and showing them for the hypocrites they are.  Bottom line is the child is a reflection of their parents.  Bristol Palin is an irresponsible kid, in part due to the poor upbringing which didn’t teach her to not get knocked-up at a time in your life when you haven’t even graduated high-school or have a job.

Palin says 17-year-old daughter is pregnant

By LIZ SIDOTI,
Associated Press Writer

John McCain’s running mate Sarah Palin said Monday that her 17-year-old unmarried daughter is five months pregnant, an announcement campaign aides said was aimed at rebutting Internet rumors that Palin’s youngest son, born in April, was actually her daughter’s.

A statement released by the campaign said that Bristol Palin will keep her baby and marry the child’s father. Bristol Palin’s baby is due in late December.

“Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. We’re proud of Bristol’s decision to have her baby and even prouder to become grandparents,” Sarah and Todd Palin said in the brief statement.

The disclosure of the pregnancy came on the opening day of the Republican National Convention, scaled back because of Hurricane Gustav, and three days after McCain named Palin as his running mate. The other news was likely to overshadow the disclosure.

The first-term Alaska governor was in Minnesota preparing for her acceptance speech when the campaign issued the statement; her family was home in Alaska.

“Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family,” they added.

The father was identified in the statement as Levi, but the campaign said it was not disclosing his full name or age or how he and Bristol know each other, citing privacy.

Sarah Palin’s fifth child, a son named Trig, was born in April with Down syndrome. Internet bloggers have been suggesting that the child was actually born to Bristol Palin but that her mother, the 44-year-old Alaska governor, claimed to be the mother.

Palin spokesman Bill McAllister emphatically denied those rumors, and McCain adviser Mark Salter said the campaign announced the daughter’s pregnancy to rebut them.

“Senator McCain’s view is this is a private family matter. As parents, (the Palins) love their daughter unconditionally and are going to support their daughter,” said McCain spokesman Steve Schmidt.

“Life happens,” he said.

“An American family,” added Salter.

The advisers said Palin told them about the pregnancy during lengthy discussions about her background. At several points during the discussions, McCain’s team warned Palin that the scrutiny into her private life would be intense and that there was nothing she could do to prepare for it.

Advisers said Palin’s daughter should be afforded privacy like the other candidates’ children. Said Schmidt: “If people try to politicize this, the American people will be appalled.”

In Monroe, Mich., Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama condemned rumors involving the children of candidates and echoed the McCain campaign argument. Said Obama: “I think people’s families are off limits, and people’s children are especially off limits.”

Obama adamantly denied anonymous claims that his campaign helped spread the rumors.

“I am offended by that statement,” Obama said. “Our people were not involved in any way in this, and they will not be. And if I ever thought that there was somebody in my campaign that was involved in something like that, they’d be fired.”

Prominent religious conservatives, many of whom have been lukewarm toward McCain’s candidacy, predicted that Palin’s daughter’s pregnancy would not diminish conservative Christian enthusiasm for the vice presidential hopeful, a staunch abortion opponent.

Focus on the Family founder James Dobson issued a statement commending the Palins for “for not just talking about their pro-life and pro-family values, but living them out even in the midst of trying circumstances.” He added: “Being a Christian does not mean you’re perfect. Nor does it mean your children are perfect. But it does mean there is forgiveness and restoration when we confess our imperfections to the Lord.”

Roberta Combs, president of the Christian Coalition of America called the pregnancy private. “It’s a matter that should stay in the family and they have to work through it together. My prayers go out to them.”

Added Combs: “We’re excited about the governor and think she’s going to do well.”

Mathew Staver, dean of Liberty University School of Law, said: “We’re all sinners.”

“We all make mistakes. Certainly, the ideal is not to get pregnant out of wedlock. But she made the right decision after her mistake,” he said.
