  5. 1.Thank you kindly for the Lynn air checks, especially as I could not find any of the recent ones I recorded… too many hard drives to check and too little I kept of late.

I had to re-do part of my pre-recorded XMAS show to mention her passing to my audience as Lynn has been a staple of my radio diet for some 30 years, I shall post a link to your page at the New York Radio Message Board and on my site, so others may find this treasure trove of one of my favorite acerbic air talents. Thanks again, I’ll surely share some excerpts of these shows in two weeks when I do my next show.

Lynn and ‘The Hitch’ in one month, the world has truly become a less literate and entertaining place with their loss. Thanks once more!

  25. I’ll never forget Lynn on that great line-up on WABC in the 90’s…
I remember Grant and Diamond always fighting with her to the point that WABC management had to ban the hosts against commenting on each other….
(I remember Lynn being pushed by callers into commenting on the other
hosts and her saying “I’m not allowed to comment anymore…”)

I think the most memorable were the “roundtables” that they had back then…
    (All the hosts on together….)
The contrast Lynn’s voice and opinions were to all the other hosts was hilarious….
I remember a customer I had here in Bay Ridge bashing Rush (“Rush and George Brett were gay lovers”) and stating how she loved Lynn (out of nowhere….)…

WABC Radio doesn’t even exist anymore….A controlled, corporate, boring, cardboard sounding mess…. Uggghhh!!!

Curtis Sliwa commented on Lynn during the last hour of his show (970 The Apple) on Tuesday 12-27-11…Could someone post Sliwa’s comments here if they have it?

I am so thankful for the clips above – I didn’t realize how much I looked forward to hearing Lynn talk about ANYTHING. Unless XM/Sirius really gives me a good deal on the renewal next month, I’m not going to renew my subscription.

  31. I just listened to Bob Grant and John Manelli. Waded through the first part. What an incredibly boring man Bob Grant is. And the difference between the way he handled callers and the way Lynn did. That was one of the things I loved about Lynn. She was passionately interested in what her callers had to say, even when she disagreed with them. You always knew she was listening to her callers. And she rarely cut them off. When I listened to Alex Bennett I could tell he was constantly fooling with his computer. He wasn’t listening to what the callers were saying, and would constantly ask them to repeat themselves. It’s one of the many things I find so annoying about him. But Lynn? She truly wanted to hear what callers had to say, and she engaged them in wonderful conversations.

    • the reason they moved her off Sirius left was because of complaints they got from listeners from all the anti Obama (and other constant anti left pro conservative) comments

she has a right to her opinions, they just don’t belong on a channel called Sirius “left”

there are 50 million right wing channels for that

  37. I enjoyed Alex Bennet on the tribute show. I know she did not like Alex, but he was a very difficult person to be friends with. I met him in San Francisco. I went down to his show. He was not very receptive to being friends. Maybe he had too many hangers on? But, it was interesting to hear what he had to say about Lynn. I only liked Alex in San Francisco, when he did a comedy type show and had comedians on who were his personal friends. Alex did mention Michael Savage. He is from San Francisco, but I stopped listening to him when he went off on an Italian Restaurant for making the pasta too al dente. I never did listen to him, but he would come on the radio and I would not turn him off, but after that I turned him off. Being Italian, I didn’t like Savage’s hate rant about pasta. I decided he was so insane there was no point in listening to him ever again. I did write to Lynn about this incident, and she did listen to me and reply as if I was important. One could never be mad at Lynn for long because she was so real, no matter what she said, she was a nice person. At some point she announced she was taking trip to England with Michael Savage. I don’t know what happened, but she did not go on the trip. I thought it would have been great if she went and then reported on her show about all the crazy things he did. Maybe he does crazy things on vacation like scream at waiters. If he did not like Italian food, I don’t think English food would have appealed to him much either. That would of made a good story, but I could not listen to his political views. But, I just wanted to post because people were posting that they don’t like Alex, but I think in terms of the gravity of the situation they are petty to not put aside any feeling about Alex and focus on Lynn. It’s not about Alex, it’s about Lynn.

  39. Wow, Lynn has been on weekends since May? I would like to hear her last show on Sirius Left and her first one on the weekend. Have her engineers posted anything? They must be in shock. I remember Garrett from before….and Jackie more recently. She loved those kids! She must be in heaven now chomping on her yogurt, shocked that Santorum is neck and neck with Romney….sad her lovey dovey Ron Paul came in 3’rd. I have started listening to her very last show and it is hard. So full of life. It is a shame. Hopefully, we can keep her spirit alive. Thanks to all of you. Billy posted a movie clip of Lynn on http://www.lynnsamuels.com

  41. Lynn was a top notch entertainer. She was “Living the dream.”  She wasn’t making millions but she had found a great way to support herself without having to work. She was a natural. Everyone’s dream is to do what they love to do for a living. If you love what you do,  your not really working.  Me personally am still trying to figure out what it is I love to do besides writing a lot.
I hadn’t written to lynn in months so I decided to do so around early January.  When she was on the air 5 days a week we emailed almost daily. She would say something on the air & I would comment on it via email. She often answered with a one or two sentence reply but occasionally she wrote a whole lengthy paragraph reply to my comment.  I understood she replied to a whole slew of emails everyday so I understood why she replied with such short emails.  She would always reply to my emails within 24 hours of me sending it to her.  Towards the end of January, I was surprised not to have received an email reply from Lynn.  She never took this long to reply to my emails. It is very difficult for me to listen to her show on Stars because of the time slot she was assigned  was very bad for my schedule so I was unable to listen. I had no idea what was going on with Lynn or her show.  I went to my Sirius app on my phone to see if I could now record the show since Sirius had just upgraded their iPhone app.  I did a “Lynn Samuels” search and her name came up.  I tapped on her show on my phone & it can up blank as far as getting show details.  I thought to myself, oh no, the suits have fired her again.  I was really upset by not seeing her show.  I did more research & found out she had passed away on Christmas Eve.  I can’t explain to you how my heart sank at that moment.  I thought back to all the times she would kid, usually at the end of the show, about how she would not wake up or she would get hit by a bus, otherwise she would be back the next day for the next show.  I am still in disbelief.   From time to time, since learning of her passing, I feel as if I can still  email her to tell her how much I miss her two hour show and that I hate it that I am unable to listen to her show on the weekends due to the time slot it’s in conflicting with my schedule.  Every time I think about sending her an email, I then suddenly realize, seconds later, that she has passed and that I can no longer express my opinion to her, I get that heart sinking feeling that I got when I initially read about her passing on Christmas Eve all over again.  I have had Sirius radio for many years.  The only thing I listened to on Sirius was Lynn Samuels.  The music channels are useless since you can get them all for free now via a multitude of new and old online, customizable music-streaming apps.  The only content worth listening to on Sirius radio are the talk shows, in my opinion.  Since I haven’t allowed myself to get hooked on any other Sirius host but Lynn, I will soon be canceling my subscription. Just in time now that I am being billed $23 a month instead of the $7.50 I was charged 5 years ago when I signed on to Sirius.  I had been holding out from canceling ever since Lynn got moved to weekends in hopes that she would return to a Monday through Friday slot. That will never happen now!   It is very sad that she didn’t go to the doctor to get a physical and to have her heart checked.  Just like Alex Bennet said,  had she gone to a doctor to get checked she would more than likely still be alive today. A sirius radio, other than for truckers & other long distance couriers, is useless these days.  You can stream everything on the internet now.
Three or so years ago Lynn, out of the blue,  decided to send me something of hers.  It meant a lot to me that she did so. She sent me a collection of her personal cassette tapes of her shows from back in the WABC days.  I listened to them.  She was on top of her game then.  She was younger, spoke faster and  her voice was crisp as ever.  That was about 52 thousand cigarettes ago, so-to-speak, so it’s no wonder.  I too smoke so there is no room to criticize here.  I will miss her and her show.

  42. I just found out the sad news about Lynn. Since she went to weekends I rarely got to listen but looked for her this past Saturday and wondered why she wasn’t on. As I walked through Target yesterday I thought of her and made a mental note to go to her website and see what was up. Lynn was one of a kind and I will miss her candor and humor. Where ever she may be, I hope she is at peace.
