Sirius XM satellite radio announces programming changes effective 12 Nov 08

Sirius XM satellite radio today announced programming changes affecting XM radio receivers at 12am ET on 12 Nov 2008.  The changes are a result of the recent merger between the two companies and the resulting duplication of music broadcast on the two subscriber services.

Prior to the programming changes, duplicate genre music was being broadcast by Sirius and XM and this added significant cost to the Sirius XM financial bottom line.  The programming changes resulted in many on air jocks being released from both companies.  The changes allow the new company to eliminate content duplication while adding new channels without changing the cost to individual subscribers.
